Promoting Leadership in Our Youth
Rotary Youth Leadership Awards is an annual program originated by the Monadnock Rotary Club.
RYLA Event on November 22, 2008 at the Boston University Sargent Center for Outdoor Education in Hancock, NH
The Monadnock Rotary Club invites each club in Rotary District 7870 to participate in the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) Conference. Each club is encouraged to select and sponsor high school juniors and seniors who are interested in attending. The cost of the program is $85 per student. We ask that each club provide payment for the students that you select and sponsor. The conference is open to 54 high school students and we recommend that each club register a maximum of 4 junior or senior high school students. For directions or information on BU Sargent Center please visit http://www.bu.edu/outdoor/Who is eligible to attend?
Clubs may devise their own selection process to recruit high school juniors and seniors from high schools local to their club. They should be students who want to develop their understanding of themselves as leaders and to learn more about the leadership process. We would like to suggest that Interact members be given preference, but any junior or senior student who would benefit from this interactive leadership program is welcome. What is the program?
The program includes three dynamic sessions that provide for the exploration and practice of various aspects of leadership. In the past these sessions have included topics that include team-building, public speaking, communication, leadership styles, and decision-making. The one-day event also provides an opportunity for these students to experience fellowship by meeting and working with their peers from around the district. For registration information and forms please contact Amy Willey at 603-924-3542 or email Amy
